Learn / Battery backup
Battery backup, without the hype.
What a home battery does well, what it does not, and how to add one now or later without redesigning your roof.
A battery has two jobs
The first is shifting. Your array makes power at midday; the battery holds some of it and releases it in the evening, when the house is busiest and the sun is gone.
The second is backup. When the grid drops, the battery keeps selected parts of the home running. These jobs pull in slightly different directions, so we ask which matters more to you before we size anything.
Priority circuits, not the whole house
Our battery package is designed around priority circuit support: refrigeration, lights, internet, a few outlets, perhaps a well pump or medical equipment. Powering an entire home, air conditioning included, takes a much larger and more expensive system.
We would rather size to the loads you actually care about than sell you capacity you will never use.
Storms, and honest limits
Florida outages can last from an hour to several days. A battery is finite: how long it lasts depends on what you ask it to run and how much sun follows the storm. Solar paired with storage can recharge during the day, but we will not promise a run-time we cannot verify for your home.
Add it later, if you like
Many homeowners prefer to phase the investment. We design with battery-ready pathways, so the same crew can add a battery down the road without reworking what is already on the roof. Whether that works for a given system depends on the equipment chosen, which we confirm during design.
